Accessing and navigating the BMC Helix Edge user interface
Logging on to BMC Helix Edge
Access the BMC Helix Edge platform through BMC Helix Portal.
Before you begin
- Have a compatible web browser.
- Get valid user credentials from the BMC Helix user administrator.
To log on to BMC Helix Edge
- Open a compatible browser.
In the search bar of the browser, enter the URL as https://<namespace-name>.<domain_name.com>.
For example: https://neo.dsmlab.bmc.com- <namespace-name> is neo.
- <domain_name.com> is bmc.com.
Be sure to use https:// as a secure connection protocol.
Enter the user name and password in the Username and Password fields, respectively.
The browser displays the BMC Helix Portal landing page with BMC Helix applications.On the BMC Helix Portal landing page, click the BMC Helix Edge Platform tile.
The browser takes you to the BMC Helix Edge portal.
Navigating the BMC Helix Edge user interface
The BMC Helix Edge user interface provides a seamless and efficient interaction for users aiming to manage and optimize their IoT devices and data at the edge of their network.
The user interface offers the following features and functionalities:
- Manage devices
- Leverage machine learning
- Create rules and workflows
- Monitor and configure service health
- Access other BMC Helix products
- Administer user roles
BMC Helix Edge displays the default page. The system displays the following page when you choose an instance from the BMC Helix Dashboards list.

Dashboard
The dashboard is a central hub for data insights and license management. With dashboards, you can build a dashboard and combine data from different sources into reports and view the usage of license entitlements from various sources.

Device management
With device management, you can control the device ecosystem. With profile, you can create device profiles and define standardized configurations for groups of devices.

Machine Learning
BMC Helix Edge incorporates Machine Learning (ML) capabilities. You can use this feature for predictive analytics. You can also develop models that learn from data patterns, providing insights into device behavior and facilitating predictive maintenance strategies.

Rules and workflows
Rules and workflows streamline automation and decision-making processes. With Workflow Builder, you can construct custom workflows that define the sequence of actions in response to specific triggers. With Rule Editor, you can create and manage rules that initiate actions based on predefined conditions.

Service health and configuration
The service health and configuration components monitor the operational status of various services within BMC Helix Edge. The component provides real-time information about the health and performance of components, enabling proactive troubleshooting and maintenance.

Administration
With the Administration menu, you can manage user access and permissions. You can create customized roles with specific privileges, ensuring secure access and control over different parts of the BMC Helix Edge. With User Management, you can add, modify, or remove user accounts.
