Downloading the installation files

The products that comprise the BMC Application Management Suite are available for download from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website at http://webapps.bmc.com/epd. If you do not already have a user name and password that allow you to fully access the Customer Support site, you can register for a user name and password on the site.

If you do not have a current license for the product, contact a BMC sales representative by calling 800 793 4262. If you cannot download the product, contact a sales representative and ask for a physical kit to be shipped to you.

Note

The component files that you download from the BMC Software EPD web page might contain some or all of the patches listed on the product's Customer Support web page. If the EPD page shows that a patch is included, you do not need to obtain that patch separately.

Before you begin

See Key-concepts about the functional capabilities of each component and for information about which files to download for the base license and for each of the license add-ons.

To download the product files

  1. Create a temporary directory in which to put the downloaded files.

    Note

On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Navigate to the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website at http://webapps.bmc.com/epd.
  3. Enter the User ID and Password that your BMC sales representative gave you.
  4. Under Export Compliance and Access Terms, select a Language.
  5. Under Required Export Information,
    1. Select a Country in which the Products will be used.
    2. Enter the Name of the Company or Entity who will ultimately use the Products.
    3. Under Is the Company or Entity which will use the Material being downloaded a Government Entity?, select Yes or No.
    4. For your convenience, select Please remember this information for my next visit.
  6. Read the Export Compliance Statement, and select I Do Not Agree or I Agree.
  7. Read the Product Access Terms, and select I Do Not Agree or I Agree.
  8. To print a copy of the Product Access Terms and Export Compliance Statement, select Print.
  9. Click Continue. (Unless you complete steps 2 through 7, and select I Agree in steps 6 and 7, you cannot continue. Select Cancel to exit the EPD website.)
  10. In the Licensed Products screen, select BMC Application Management*Suite* 2.3.30, and click Continue.
If BMC Application Management*Suite* 2.3.30 is not listed in the Licensed Products screen, select the Additional Products tab.
  11. In the Additional Products screen, in View by Category, select BMC Application Management*Suite*.
  12. Find the BMC Application Management*Suite 2.1.00* for the platform that you require, and select it.
  13. Right-click the License information document(s) and any other documents or Release Notes listed, and save them to your computer.
  14. In this document, use the tables referenced in Functional capabilities and components of the BMC Application Management Suite to identify the folders and files that you require.
  15. Open the folders and select the files that you require, and select one of the following download options:
    • Download FTP - When this option is selected, an email containing download information is sent to the email address associated to your User login information. Once the email is received, follow the specific directions provided.
    • Download Manager- This option engages a download software application that can assist you in downloading directly to a specified location. First time users are required to install the Akamai download management software. Once the software is installed, the Download Manager guides you through the download. This download management software provides you with details on the number of files downloaded, estimated time to download each file, and Pause and Resume options.

      Note

Not all download files are available on all platforms listed. If the files that you require do not appear in the list, select another platform.

  16. Before launching the installation program for any of the download files, read the release notes for each downloaded component, carefully reviewing the installation requirements and prerequisites for your platform.

For installation instructions, see the online technical documentation, offline documentation in the zip file, or both, for the components that you download. These documents are available from the EPD website for the component.
