Application Availability dashlet

The Application Availability dashlet of BMC Application Diagnostics displays the application availability as the percentage of error-free transactions and the percentage of transactions that have errors or latency breaches, over a selected time range. You can see how often end users are experiencing transactions with errors or latency breaches, and then drill down to details from the graph.

You can select the application, server, and time range (over the last hour, day, or week). Click a bar on the graph to see the transactions filtered by application name and time, and then drill down further to review traces and trace details.

Configuring the dashlet

Configure the dashlet to show the availability of an application, over a selected period of time. Configuring the dashlet involves selecting the following parameters:

  • Application—select an application name from the list of monitored applications
  • Server—select a server, or all servers, that have the specified application
  • Time range—select a time range to show the behavior over the last 60 minutes, last 24 hours, or last 7 days.

Note

Agents that do not have a specified application name (which is the default value in version 2.0 of the Agents) cannot be shown in the dashlet. To add or change an application name, see Viewing-a-list-of-Agents.Viewing a list

To configure the dashlet

  1. On the dashlet menu, click Edit Settings.
  2. (Optional) Edit the Dashlet title.
  3. Select an Application from the list.
  4. Select a Server from the list.
The list of servers varies according to the selected application.
  5. Select a Time range from the list.
  6. Click Save.

Viewing details about data on the dashlet

To display the values that a bar on the graph represents, hover over the bar. A tooltip shows the percentage of errored transactions (that it, transactions with errors or latency breaches) and the percentage of non-errored transactions. If no transactions are recorded for a time period, then a bar is not displayed.

Click the bar to open the Business Transactions window, filtered by the following criteria:

  • Time range (UTC) represented by the bar on the graph
  • Application selected in the dashlet
  • Server selected in the dashlet (if ALL was not selected)

The listed transactions are the transactions that were used to calculate the percentages of application availability. Select a transaction to drill down to traces and trace details.
