Performing the Agent for .NET upgrade silently
This topic presents the procedure for the silent (unattended) upgrade of the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for .NET from version 2.0 or 2.1.x to 2.5. You can upgrade Agents using the using the silent upgrade procedure and deploy the silent upgrade to several computers, or you can upgrade each Agent using the upgrade wizard procedure.
When you run the setup.exe installation utility on a system with a previous version of the product, the wizard automatically switches to upgrade mode
Before you begin
Download the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for .NET upgrade and installation files from the Electronic Product Distribution site:
- agent-silent-upgrade-option.txt
- setup.exe
You must have administrative privileges for the application server that will be monitored.
To upgrade the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for .NET
- Copy and extract the files to a directory on the target computer so that the agent-silent-upgrade-option.txt file is in the same folder as setup.exe.
- Open the agent-silent-upgrade-option.txt file in a text editor.
- Ensure that the value of the AllowUpgrade parameter is set to Yes. Save and close the file.
- Run the following command: setup.exe /s
The utility installs the current version with the same values as the earlier installation.
