2.5.00 enhancements

This section contains information about enhancements in version 2.5.00 of the BMC Application Diagnostics product.

Monitor application health and performance with Application View

The Application View enables you to monitor the health and performance of an application over time. The view helps you pinpoint issues in the application and locate servers where you can begin investigating. You can examine and trend server metrics and correlate server issues with application transaction issues. For more information, see Monitoring-application-health-and-performance.

Display metrics with Application Server Metrics dashlet

You can now add the Application-Server-Metric-dashlet to display the performance of a specific metric on one or more application servers over time. Add the dashlet to dashboards in the BMC Application Performance Management Console. You select the application name, metric, server or servers, and time range. You can examine and trend server metrics and correlate server issues with application transaction issues.

Utilize additional application server events

You can use Application server events with configurable thresholds to enable early notification of potential problems in an application. This version adds more application server events and two levels of thresholds: tolerating, for early warning, and frustrated, for critical warning.

Collect stack traces for exceeded thresholds: Agent for .NET

The BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for .NET can now collect stack traces for transactions that exceed thresholds (also called retrotrace).

Add application names and associate Watchpoints

You can now add applications and associate Application Watchpoints in the BMC Application Performance Management Console. After you add an application name, you can associate an Agent with an application and then monitor performance and health in dashlets and in the Application View. After batch deployment of BMC Application Diagnostics Agents, it is helpful to add application names where they were not defined.

After BMC Application Diagnostics is integrated with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring, you can associate an application with an Application Watchpoint. The association provides User tier information in the Application View in the BMC Application Performance Management Console.
