Sampled and persisted requests
BMC Application Diagnostics balances the collection of data, and the impact that data collection has on the system. The product calculates statistics about requests on the application server, and all requests are used to calculate statistics, even requests that are not recorded.
While trying to provide as much information about business transactions and requests for evaluation and diagnostics, BMC Application Diagnostics filters data that is generally not important to request performance.
To achieve the diagnostics-performance balance, BMC Application Diagnostics trace details show the following data:
- Average and maximum latency (duration) of all requests
- Total number of latency violations
- Total number of errors
- Details for all requests that are specifically tagged to be persisted
- Technology breakdown of a sampled percentage of requests
- Complete recording (that is, the full code level) of the worst service-level agreement (SLA) breaching request for each request type
- Complete recording of each error type for each request type
