Adding applications and associating Watchpoints
The Diagnostics Configuration window enables you to do the following configuration for applications in BMC Application Diagnostics:
- Add the name of an application. Application names that are entered during BMC Application Diagnostics Agent installation appear automatically in the list. You add an application names and then associate applications with Agents. Adding application names is helpful after a batch deployment of BMC Application Diagnostics Agents, where the application name was not defined. Adding the application name enables you to associate the Agent with an application so that you can monitor performance and health in dashlets and in the Application View. If no Agents are associated with the application name, you can delete the application configuration from the list.
Associate an Application Watchpoint
with an application in BMC Application Diagnostics. If your product is integrated with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring, associating an Application Watchpoint enables you to see User tier information in the Application View.
To perform this procedure, you must have Operator-level access, or higher, or have tenant Application Owner-level access.
To configure BMC Application Diagnostics applications
- Log on to the BMC Application Performance Management Console.
- On the Application Monitoring tab, select Watchpoints > Diagnostics Configuration.
- Select one of the following options:
- To add an application configuration, select Add Application from the Action menu.
- To edit and existing application configuration, select Edit Application from the shortcut menu.
- In the Add Application or Edit Application dialog box, configure the following parameters:
- Application Name. If you are adding an application, enter an application name.
Application names are case insensitive. - Application Watchpoint. If integrated with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring, select a configured Application Watchpoint or child Watchpoint from the list.
An Application Watchpoint can only be associated with one application name. If all Application Watchpoints are already associated with applications, then the list is empty.
- Application Name. If you are adding an application, enter an application name.
- Click Save.
To delete a configured application
If no Agents are associated with the application name, you can delete the application configuration from the list.
- On the Application Monitoring tab, select Watchpoints > Diagnostics Configuration.
- From the shortcut menu of the specific application, select Delete.
- Click OK in the confirmation message.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
