Upgrading


This topic provides procedures for upgrading the BMC Application Diagnostics Server and the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent from a previous version to version 2.0.

Note

If you choose to upgrade, then all BMC Application Diagnostics Agents and Servers must be the same version.

To upgrade the BMC Application Diagnostics Server

  1. Complete all preinstallation tasks.
  2. Launch the installation wizard:
    • (Windows) Navigate to ADOPServer\Disk1 and double-click setup.cmd.
       In Windows 2008, the system may require you to right-click the setup.cmd icon to select to Run as administrator.
    • (Linux)
      1. Before running the wizard, ensure that you have a DISPLAY environment variable set.
      2. Navigate to ADOPServer/Disk1 and run setup.sh.
  3. In the BMC Application Diagnostics Server Installer Welcome page, click Next.
  4. On the License Agreement page, read the agreement and select the I agree to the terms of the license agreement option, and then click Next. If you do not agree to the terms of the license agreement, the upgrade process will end.
  5. On the Features page, select to upgrade one or both BMC Application Diagnostics Server components, and then click Next:
    • BMC Application Diagnostics Portal
    • BMC Application Diagnostics Collector

      Notes

      • If the portal and a collector are on the same computer, then you must upgrade both components at the same time.
      • If you upgrade only one server component, then only the relevant configuration pages are displayed.
  6. On the Portal Configuration page, select a security option for communication between the BMC Application Diagnostics components (portal, collector and agent), and then click Next:
    • Not Secured
    • Encrypted Authenticated
  7. On the Database Connection Information page, enter the MySQL root password, and then click Next
     If the root password was not changed after installation, you can skip this step.
  8. Verify that the information on the Installation Preview page reflects your upgrade correctly. Click Previous to make changes, or click Install.
  9. After the installation is complete, click View Log to view the installation log files and confirm that the installation process was successful.
  10. Click Done to exit the installation wizard.
  11. If you have custom policies from version 1.3, you can examine them on the BMC Application Diagnostics Portal computer, in the /portal/configurations/1.3 directory. If you want to use settings from the version 1.3 policies, you will have to compare text to create new policies based on the old.

To upgrade the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent

  1. Uninstall the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent:
  2. Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent 2.0.
