Moving the BMC Application Diagnostics Server components


You may need to move the BMC Application Diagnostics Server components for various reasons, for example if the component is installed on a physical computer and this computer is being decommissioned; if the component is installed on a virtual machine (VM) running on a particular server, and the server is being upgraded; or if the original server stops responding and you want to restore it on a different computer.

This topic provides the sequence of tasks required to move the BMC Application Diagnostics Server components from one computer to a different computer.

  1. Back up the existing database. The recommendation is to make a physical backup.
  2. Uninstall the BMC Application Diagnostics Server component from the computer where it is no longer needed. See Uninstalling-the-BMC-Application-Diagnostics-Server.
  3. Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Server component on its new host computer. See BMC-Application-Diagnostics-Server-installation.
  4. Recover the database data on the new host computer.
