Installation process overview

This topic provides the sequence of the installation process with links to each of the installations steps.

For customers who are deploying BMC Application Diagnostics as a standalone product

1. Install the BMC Application Performance Management Console.
2. Continue with steps 1 to 5 described in the following procedure.

For customers who are deploying BMC Application Diagnostics and integrating with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring

1. Ensure that you have the required components installed, including the BMC Application Performance Management console.
2. Download the installation files.
3. Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Server:
   1. Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Server in interactive mode or
      Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Server in silent mode.
   2. Verify the BMC Application Diagnostics Server installation.
   3. Change the MySQL root password.
4. Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent:
   • BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java
     1. Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java in interactive mode or
        Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java in silent mode.
     2. Verify the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java installation.
     3. Configure BMC Application Diagnostics in BMC Application Performance Management Console.
     4. Post installation configuration:
        1. Update the Java options according the application server type.
        2. Grant Java 2 permissions.
        3. Change security settings, if required.
   • BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Windows .NET
     1. Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for .NET in interactive mode or
        Install the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for .NET in silent mode.
     2. Verify the BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for .NET installation.
     3. Configure BMC Application Diagnostics in BMC Application Performance Management Console.
     4. Post installation configuration:
        1. Change security settings, if required.
5. Configure BMC Application Diagnostics on the BMC Application Performance Management Console.
6. Optional: Integrate BMC Application Diagnostics with BMC Real End User Experience Monitoring
