Configuring BMC Application Diagnostics on the BMC Application Performance Management Console


As part of the installation process, the following configuration must be done on the BMC Application Performance Console.

Logging on to BMC Application Performance Management Console

Use the following procedure to log on to the BMC Application Performance Management Console.

  1. In the address bar of a supported browser, enter the URL of the computer on which the BMC Application Performance Management Console is installed and press Enter.

    The first time you access the BMC Application Performance Management Console you will be prompted to enter a user name and password.
  2. Follow the steps on screen to log on.

    By default, the system applies simple password validation rules to authenticate a password. The system checks passwords only for length (minimum 6 characters). All passwords are case sensitive.

    If the strict password rule is enabled, the system prompts users who log on with simple passwords to change them the next time they log on. A strict password comprises:
    • A minimum of 10 characters
    • Two of the following non-alphabetic characters that are noncontiguous:
      0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ + - = 

      Warning

      BMC recommends that you change your password immediately after first time log on.

  3. To change the default password:
    • On the console Action menu, click User Settings.
    • On the My Account Action menu, click Change Password.
    • In the Current Password field, type changeme.
    • In New Password and Confirm New Password fields, type in a unique and private password.
    • Click Save.

Configuring the Portal address

Use the following procedure to configure the Portal address.

  1. In the BMC Application Performance Management Console, from the Diagnostics tab, click Administration > System Configuration.
  2. Click the arrow in the upper-right corner, and select the connection protocol to reflect the security connection selected during the BMC Application Diagnostics Portal installation.
     If you selected the not_secured security level, select HTTP. For encrypted and encrypted_authenticated security levels, use HTTPS.
  3. Enter the Portal computer's host name or IP address.
  4. Edit the Portal port number. If you selected HTTP connection protocol, enter the HTTP Portal port number. If you selected HTTPS connection protocol, enter the HTTPS Portal port number
  5. Click Save.
