Creating and editing a Collector policy file


The read-only Default policy files are available for BMC Application Diagnostics Collectors. To create a new policy file, you can save a copy of the Default policy and modify it. The new policy can then be set as active.

To create a Collector policy file

  1. From the Diagnostics tab, select Administration > Collector Policies.
     The Collector Policies page is displayed.
  2. In the Name column, click the name of a policy file.
  3. On the View Collector Policy File page, from the arrow menu at the upper-right corner of the page, select Save As.

    Warning

    Note

    Menu options will vary depending on the type of policy, such as for the read-only Default policy.

  4. On the Create New Collector Policy File page, change the policy name.
  5. (Optional) Add a description.
  6. Modify the policy according to your requirements.
  7. Click Save.

To edit a Collector policy file

  1. From the Diagnostics tab, select Administration > Collector Policies.
  2. In the Name column, click the name of an editable policy file.
     A lock icon ico_lock_readonly.png is displayed next to read-only files.
  3. On the View Collector Policy File page, from the arrow menu at the upper-right corner of the pane, select Edit.
  4. On the Edit Collector Policy File page, modify the policy according to your requirements.
  5. Click Save.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
