Default Agent policies for BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java

Four built-in default Agent policies are provided with BMC Application Diagnostics Agent for Java:

  • Light
The Light policy causes the Agent to record the least amount of information, and to have a low performance hit on the recorded application.
  • Medium
This is the out-of-the-box default policy. The Medium policy causes the Agent to record more information, and have a higher performance hit on the application.
  • Deep
The Deep policy is only used when you need the Agent to record extensive details of transactions. This has a severe performance hit on the application.
  • Standalone
The Standalone policy is intended for use when BMC Application Diagnostics is not integrated with BMC Real User Experience Monitoring. The settings are the same as the Light policy, except for any settings related to BMC Real User Experience Monitoring, which improves the performance.

Choosing the right policy

Use the Standalone policy if BMC Application Diagnostics is not integrated with BMC Real User Experience Monitoring.

Choose to use the Light, Medium or Deep policy by evaluating the configuration settings in the following table.
