Creating and editing an Agent policy file


The read-only Default policy files are available for BMC Application Diagnostics Agents. To create a new policy file, you can save a copy of a default policy and modify it. You can then apply the policy to BMC Application Diagnostics Agents.

To create an Agent policy file

New policy files are created by copying an existing file.

  1. From the Diagnostics tab, select Administration > Agent Policies.
  2. In the Name column, click the name of a policy file.
  3. On the View Agent Policy File page, from the arrow menu at the upper-right corner of the pane, select Save As.

    Note

    Menu options will differ depending on whether the policy is a built-in default policy or a new policy. A Default policy cannot be edited or deleted. You can save a copy of the file for editing. All other policy files can be edited and deleted.

  4. On the Create New Agent Policy File page, change the policy name.
  5. (Optional) Add a description.
  6. Rename the policy and modify according to your requirements.
  7. Click Save.

To edit a policy file

  1. From the Diagnostics tab, select Administration > Agent Policies.
  2. In the Name column, click the name of an editable policy file. 

    Tip

    A lock icon ico_lock_readonly.png is displayed next to read-only files. You can create a copy of these files for editing.

    1. From the arrow menu in the far-right column, select Save As.
    2. Modify the policy according to your requirements.
  3. On the View Agent Policy File page, from the arrow menu at the upper-right corner of the pane, select Edit.
  4. On the Edit Agent Policy File page, modify the policy according to your requirements.
  5. Click Save.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
