Displaying the alerts

As part of defining alerts, you can:

  • Create an alert text message that will appear in the AppSight System Console
  • Filter-out repetitive alerts
  • Send an alert to an AppSight System Console. This is the default selected option in the Alert dialog box

If you clear this check box, the defined Alert will not appear in the Filter and Details pane of the BMC AppSight System Console.

To view alert information in the AppSight System Console Alerts pane:

To display the Alerts pane, click View => Panes and select Alerts. The pane is then displayed in the filter pane. A list of all triggered alerts appears in the Alerts tab.

You can also access specific log recording lines in the Execution Log pane for which alerts have been defined.

To view an alert log line in the Execution Log pane:

In the Alerts tab of the Filter and Details pane in the AppSight System Console, double-click an alert. The corresponding log line is highlighted in the Execution Log pane.

To view all alert details in the Operations tab dialog box:

In the Alert List pane of the Operations tab double-click an alert. The Edit Alert dialog is displayed, and you can then view all its details.

Note

Alerts are only displayed in BMC AppSight System Consoles' connected to the same AppSight Server. Triggered alerts are saved on the appropriate AppSight Server.


You can also view alerts in the BMC AppSight Code Console's Recording Tree pane.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
