Defining advanced mode alerts

To identify more information about a specific problem, define alerts in advanced mode.

You can also define alert arguments and conditions for the action you have selected to trigger the alert.

Expand each recorded operation group node, to choose individual operations.

To define alerts and advanced mode alerts:

  1. Open the Operations tab by a Recording Profile option (from the Black Box menu or a shortcut menu) selecting a Black Box or the specific application. The Recording Profile dialog box is displayed.
  2. In the Operations tab, to define normal mode alerts, find and select the operation in the main pane, then skip to Step 4.
     Or
Select the Advanced Mode check box, and expand the appropriate operations group node. You will see that some operations have an expand plus sign next to them.
  3. Expand the required operation group, and select (or clear) the appropriate advanced mode option.
  4. Define the alert by:
    1. Selecting the operation, then clicking the button above the Alert List pane in the main pane.

      Or

Right-clicking the operation and selecting Add Alert from the shortcut menu. The Add Alert dialog box is displayed containing arguments and conditions pane in addition to the respective Result, Action, and Alert message list and text boxes.
    2. Define the appropriate include or exclude Operation Texts for normal alerts or Arguments for Advance Mode alerts.
    3. Choose the appropriate Action category from the Action dropdown list.
    4. Select or clear the Show alert in the alerts pane option; enter the "ignore repeated" alert's polling time in seconds; and type the Alert Message text, as required.
  5. To confirm the alert criteria defined in the Alerts dialog box, click OK. The alert appears in the Alert List pane of the Operation tab.
You can add more alerts to the Alert List, edit alerts already in the list, or delete alerts from the list.
  6. To apply the defined alert(s) to the recording, click OK. Any recording log events matching the alert action and criteria will display the defined alert message in the Alerts tab in the Filter and Details pane.
