Sample test applications

BMC AppSight supplies you with four test applications (which can be installed by selecting the Custom option during installation - see the BMC AppSight for Windows Installation Guide) as described below. Once installed you can access them through Windows Explorer.

  • ATM - a sample VB application, including an executable, source code and PDB. You can record this application at the system and code-level. To record a sample application crash, click Exchange rate, and click Add in the Exchange Rate dialog.
  • Fire - a sample C++ application, including an executable, source code and PDB. You can record this application at the system and code-level. To record a sample application crash, select Chaos, enter 0 (zero) in the Properties text box and then click Apply.
  • Identify Trader - a sample VB.NET application that also uses VB COM+ objects and an Access database. The sample includes an executable, source code, and PDB's. To run the application you will need to install Microsoft .NET Framework.
  • NPP - a sample Windows application (Notepad +). You can record this application at the system-level. To identify a sample configuration problem, select Send... from the File menu. The operation will fail due to an incorrect DLL.

Typically, these sample applications, together with files, such as executables and their appropriate PDBs, are installed in the Samples folder of your main BMC AppSight installation. To access these applications' PDBs, and where applicable, sample Recording Profiles, go to the respective sample application folder.
