Setting a Recording Profile for the Black Box in standalone mode
The Recording Profile filters the recorded log prior to the recording itself. Setting the Recording Profile, the Black Box in standalone mode begins recording the selected applications and processes.
Setting a Recording Profile
You cannot edit or save Recording Profiles for a standalone Black Box. You can only set it with a Recording Profile, and save the recorded BMC AppSight logs.
To set a Recording Profile for a Black Box in standalone mode:
Right-click the Black Box icon in the System tray and select Apply Recording Profile from the popup menu. The standalone Black Box starts recording automatically when there is an executable present in the RPR (or when an executable is selected from the Application => Attach menu when in advanced mode).
Selecting applications to be recorded
The Black Box in standalone mode provides the following methods in which you can attach applications and record them:
- Process list selections defined in the Recording Profile file.
- Manual selection of application and process, and attaching a Black Box to them.
To manually select applications to be recorded:
- Switch the Black Box to Advanced Mode.
- Select Attach from the application/Process lists. The attached application/process appears in the Advanced Mode pane, and the Black Box starts recording automatically.
