Saving the log of a Black Box in standalone mode

Save a Black Box recording session by choosing the Save option on the BMC AppSight Black Box shortcut menu.

Add comments to the log file that can be viewed from an BMC AppSight Console during analysis.

To save a Black Box log:

1. From the Windows Status Black Box icon right-click and select Save BMC AppSight Log. The Save log as... dialog box is displayed.
2. In the Save log as... dialog box password protect the recording log file by selecting the Password check box. The Password and Confirmation fields are activated. In the Password field, type a password and repeat the password in the Confirmation field.
3. Navigate to the required location where you wish to save the log file, and type a name for the log file in the File name field.
4. Click Save. The recorded information is saved in a file with an .ASL extension.

You can also save a log file when the Black Box is in Advanced mode by selecting File => Save BMC AppSight Log.
