Defining the Recording Profile
AppSight System provides the Black Box with a full set of recording instructions, defining which applications and processes to record, what type of information to record, and what to do with the recorded information. The Recording Profile aims at capturing the problem in the fastest way and with the minimum possible performance impact.
You can select a predefined Recording Profile and set it using the Recording Profile Wizard, or set it manually. Once set up you can then begin recording (see Recording the application) and then analyzing the recorded data (see Analyzing Recorded Data).
Setting a Recording Profile includes:
- Setting the Recording Profile with the RPR Wizard or using a Predefined Recording Profile - you can use either a predefined Recording Profile (see Predefined Recording Profiles) or use the RPR Wizard to create a new one (see Setting a Recording Profile Using a Wizard).
- Modifying the Recorded Profile - you can modify the Recording Profile as required, even during the recording, to provide improved problem analysis. See Adding an application to the Recording Profile, Selecting operations and alerts and Setting the Recording Profile properties.
- Testing the Recording Profile - you can test the Recording Profile to see if you are recording what is necessary for problem analysis. See Testing the Recording Profile and Sample test applications.
