Viewing License Server details

The License Server computer needs to be accessible to all the computers that require a license check out. It contains all license features purchased by the company.

To view details of floating licenses you use the LMTools application provided with the BMC AppSight License Server.

This tool enables you to check the BMC AppSight License Server configuration settings and the current status of checked-out licenses. It is located in the License folder of the computer where you installed the BMC AppSight License Server.

To view BMC AppSight License Server details:

1. Locate the folder of your License Server installation, such as C:\Programs\BMC AppSight\License, and double-click lmtools.exe. The LMTools window is displayed.
2. Click the Perform Status Enquiry button to view the following:
   • System Settings: displays system information on the computer where the BMC AppSight License Server is installed.
   • Start/Stop/Reread: Allows you to start and stop the BMC AppSight License Server and reread license files, if required.
   • Server Status: Allows you to view how many licenses for different BMC AppSight products you have and how many of these licenses are currently in use (checked-out).

   • Config Services: displays configuration settings of your BMC AppSight License Server. 

     Warning

     Note

     Do not make any changes in the Config Services tab unless you receive a New License file (see Changing and updating BMC AppSight licenses for more information). In addition, the Utilities tab should not be used.
