Manage Licensed Users with the FlexLM Options file (identify.opt)
After the License Server is installed, individual users can be allocated as Named-Users by manually modifying the FlexLM Options file (identify.opt ) to specify the Usernames of the individuals who should have access to AppSight.
The FlexLM Options file (identify.opt ) should be manually updated by the License Administrator to specify the Usernames of the individuals who should have access to AppSight. The syntax and naming conventions should be self-explanatory, but there are additional comments for clarification. The FlexLM Options file (identify.opt ) should be located in the same directory as the License file (*.lic ) on the License Server (C:\Program Files\Identify\License).
The identify.opt file can be modified by the License Server Administrator to control which users are able to use each AppSight component. The file contains USER_GROUPs which are INCLUDEd for each of the license FEATUREs (each AppSight Component is licensed by one or more FEATUREs).
Some important issues to take into consideration:
- The necessary USER_GROUP and INCLUDE definitions are already contained in the FlexLM Options file (identify.opt ).
- Each USER is defined by a Username, where a Username is the Windows Login of the user who will be running AppSight. Wildcards are NOT allowed in Usernames.
- The FlexLM Options file should be located in the same directory as the License file (*.lic ).
- Modifications to the FlexLM Options file can be applied by restarting the "FLEXlm License Manager" Windows Service ( Start | Run... | services.msc ).
