Changing and updating BMC AppSight licenses
If the BMC AppSight License Server computer is changed, either by name or by a new physical address (MAC address) you can contact BMC Support for a new license; send an email to support@identify.com. Alternatively, you can self administer the license via the identify.opt file, see Manage Licensed Users with the FlexLM Options file (identify.opt).
To update the existing AppSight License Server with an new License file:
- Delete any old license files (*.lic ) from the License Server (C:\Program Files\Identify\License).
- Save the new license file to the License Server (C:\Program Files\Identify\License). Verify the existence of the FlexLM Options file (identify.opt ) in the same directory.
- Open LMTOOLS.exe (C:\Program Files\Identify\License).
- From the Config Services tab, change the "Path to the license file" to reference the new License file, then click Save Service.
- From the Start/Stop/Reread tab, click Stop Server. (The status will change to "Stopping Server".)
- From the Start/Stop/Reread tab, click Start Server. (The status should change to "Server Start Successful".)
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
