Step 2 - Installing AppSight Server


The following operating instructions for installing the AppSight Server only applies to installing AppSight Server(s) on other computers.

To install AppSight Server on a computer connected to your network:

  1. Select BMCAppSight Server from the Install menu in the Console. The Server Installation dialog box is displayed.
  2. Make sure that Install is selected.
  3. Select Computer Name and enter the name of the computer on which you want to install AppSight Server.
     Or
     Select Browse Network and select the Network domain from the Domain dropdown list. The list box displays a list of computers in the selected domain.
     In the list box, select the computer(s) on which you wish to install AppSight Server. Then click Next.
  4. Enter the directory where the Server files are to be installed on the remote computer(s) and the directory where Black Box sessions will be saved:
     If you do not have permission to install AppSight Server on a remote computer (or computers):
     Select the Connect using option, and type the User name and Password in the appropriate fields for a User that does have permission.

    Note

    To verify if you have the relevant administrative privileges, from the Windows Start menu, click Run, and then enter \\<server>\C$. After entering this string you are prompted for your user name and password or you will see the folders listed in the server specified.

  5. Click Next. A summary screen is shown displaying the options made.
  6. Click Next. A progress bar is displayed while the AppSight Server(s) is installed on the selected computer(s).
  7. When the operation is completed, click Finish. 

    Warning

    Note

    If you select multiple-computers, you can only apply a single user name and password to connect. It is recommended that you only install multiple AppSight Servers into the same domain. A different user name and password might be required in a different domain which may cause the installation to fail when selecting computers in different domains simultaneously.

    Warning

    For remote installations/uninstalls, logs are created in C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\BMCInstall\AppSightWindows (or for 64-bit Windows in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\BMCInstall\AppSightWindows).
