Setting Audit Trail Parameters

For auditing purposes, BMC AppSight records operations made on its components. The operations are tracked per AppSight Server.

The tracked operations are:

  • Run Black Box
  • Restart Black Box
  • Exit Black Box
  • Save session to log
  • View session
  • Set RPR
  • Update RPR
  • Install Black Box

To set AppSight Server to record an Audit Trail:

  1. Right-click the Server in the Black Box pane and select AppSight Server Properties from the popup menu. The AppSight Server <Computer> Properties screen opens.
  2. In the Auditing section, set the Audit Log Size - exceeding this size overlaps the recordings kept parameters.
  3. Select Audit parameters to be recorded.
  4. The recorded log file displays the following:
    • Date-time
    • User
    • Event - the parameters that were selected in step 4 above.
    • Console - the console from which the recorded action originated
    • Action Result - either Pass or Failed
