HTTP Server Mode

The HTTP Server mode is deployed wherever AppSight Black Box is installed on a typical server computer. As the firewall allows for a unidirectional HTTP connection to the Black Box computer, AppSight Server acts like an HTTP Client. AppSight Server is activated from the AppSight Console.

To connect to AppSight Server in an HTTP Server Mode:

  1. Open the AppSight Console.
  2. Right-click the AppSight Server in the Black Box Pane and select AppSight Server Properties. The AppSight Server Properties screen opens.
  3. Click Edit in the Black Box HTTP Connections section. The IIS URL List screen opens.
  4. Click Add. The Black Box HTTP Connections screen opens.
  5. Type the Black Box URL (example: http://machine_name/AppSightProxy/wlproxy.dll*) and clickOK. The Server is added to the IIS URL List.
  6. Click OK to return to the AppSight Console's Black Box pane.

To connect to AppSight Black Box in an HTTP Server mode:

  1. Right-click the Black Box icon in the system tray and select Connect to AppSight Server. The Connect to Server screen opens.
  2. Select HTTP Server Mode from the Black Box Mode area.
  3. Click Connect. The screen is closed.
AppSight Black Box is now connected to AppSight Server in HTTP Server mode (the Black Box is configured in this mode since the AppSight Server must try and connect to the Black Box in this mode).
