Saving AppSight logs and data


Before upgrading or reinstalling your version of BMC AppSight, it is recommended to back up your AppSight logs and data that have been recorded in previous sessions.

There are two ways in which you can backup logs; either from the System Console, or by saving the relevant directory via Windows Explorer.

To save AppSight log files from the Console:

  1. Select File => Save BMC AppSight Log from the AppSight Console menu. The Save a BMC AppSight Log dialog box is displayed.
  2. Expand the Server nodes as required, and select the relevant session(s) to be saved.
  3. Click Save. The Save dialog is displayed, in which you can define where to save the files and optionally apply passwords to the saved log files.

To save AppSight log files from Windows Explorer:

In Windows Explorer locate the Data directory (or just the RPR subfolder which is specific to Recording Profiles) under C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BMC AppSight\AppSight for Windows\Data\RPR, and save to another location as required.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
