Viewing the AppSight Console panes
AppSight Console provides the following panes, all available via the View menu. Note that these panes also feature as tabs which can be moved according to your requirements.
- Black Box: Usually displayed in the top-left, this pane displays Black Boxes and AppSight Servers, along with the applications and processes being recorded. The Black Box pane also displays open logs and sessions.
- Log Operations: This pane chronologically displays recorded log operations. See The Log Operations pane for further information.
- Log Details: This pane, usually displayed in the lower left of the Console, displays recording events in a Tree structure representing the operation calls hierarchy of application(s) being recorded by a Black Box. This pane is part of all predefined perspectives and takes place in the analysis of all problem types. The pane is divided into a number of tabs that can be displayed as required (Filter, Details, Modules, System, Connections, Alerts and Messages), each with its own unique view and ability to be moved as required (see below).
- Filter: allows for filtering the Log Details pane according to operations. See The Filter tab.
- Details: displays the log record #, operation, process, module and time of a specific log record. See The Details tab.
- Modules: displays system DLLs (such as .NET assemblies) that take part in carrying out the recorded operation. See The Modules tab.
- System: displays the system configuration of the recorded computer. See The System tab.
- Connections: displays HTTP requests carried out during the recording. See The Connections tab.
- Alerts: displays operations that the Recording Profile trigger to invoke an alert. See The Alerts tab.
- Messages: displays Black Box parameters that control the way it operates. See The Messages tab.
- Logging Info: displays all logging events from the current open log, or session, or filtered view. See The Logging Info tab.
- Sessions: Displays web pages sorted according to IP address and session ID.
- Performance Timeline: displays all log operations on a single timeline, accentuating the operation type that took the longest time to execute and suggesting the origin of the performance problem.
- Application Performance: provides a set of duration/timeline views of the recorded application, accentuating operations that took too long to execute.
- System Performance: provides a timeline-based view of the system.
- Visual Log: provides a visual view of the recorded events.
- Summary: provides a quick glance at a log record by displaying its ID, Operation and Process fields. See The Log Summary pane for further information.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
