Upgrading

Use the information in this section to upgrade BMC Helix IT Operations Management (BMC Helix ITOM) to version 24.2.00. The upgrade process includes the upgrade of the BMC Helix Platform Common Services and applications.

If you are on BMC Helix ITOM version older than 23.4.00, you must first upgrade to version 23.4.00 or 24.1.00 and then upgrade to 24.2.00.

To complete the prerequisite steps for the upgrade

To update the infra.config and deployment.config files by using the upgrade configuration utility

To upgrade the Nginx Ingress controller

To delete the helm revision secrets of the Kubernetes CronJob

Perform this task only if you upgraded from Kubernetes version 1.24 to 1.25 or higher.

To migrate Elasticsearch data from Open Distro to OpenSearch

Perform the migration tasks only if you upgrade to BMC Helix ITOM version 24.2 from version 23.4. 

To migrate PostgreSQL database from version 12.9 to 15.5.

To upgrade BMC Helix ITOM from version 23.4 to 24.2

To upgrade BMC Helix ITOM from version 24.1 to 24.2

To perform post-upgrade tasks

 If the upgrade fails for any reason, the product automatically rolls back to the previously installed version of BMC Helix IT Operations Management.
