Product Content TKU 2021-Nov-1

Technology-Knowledge-Update-TKU-2021-Nov-1 contains the following additional product content for the BMC Discovery 12.0, 20.08, 21.05 and 21.3 series.

Product content updates require appliance restart

This TKU release contains product content additions. When product content is added, the appliance is restarted as part of the update. You are given the opportunity to prevent the restart, though if you do so, none of the knowledge content will be installed.

Feature updates

The following feature were updated or introduced in Product Content 2021-Nov-1: 

  1. CLOUD/AWS: new feature UI enhancements: accounts/cross roles wildcard use in the credential UI. For details, see (DRDC1-16668).
  2. CLOUD/AWS/INVENTORY: New inventory pattern for AWS Direct Connect services. For details, see (DRDC1-16578).
  3. CLOUD/AWS/DATABASE: Model initial database node for each Amazon RDS Instance. For details, see (DRDC1-17159).
  4. CORE/VAULT: Added ability to change the application ID to use in CyberArk, only for the REST access method. For details, see (DRUD1-33525).
  5. UI/REPORTING: Query for OOTB Kubernetes cluster report was fixed. Now the following fields will be displayed: Short Name, Version, Number of Host Nodes, Number of VM Nodes, Number of Services. For details, see (DRDC1-17607).
  6. SOFTWARE: Enhanced credentials test for Kubernetes. For details, see (DRDC1-17335).
  7. SOFTWARE: Enhanced code for Code for HPE OneView API authentication. For details, see (DRDC1-17273).
  8. SOFTWARE: New authentication method for OneView API request. For details, see (DRDC1-16405).
  9. SOFTWARE: Add missing hostname for HPE OneView. For details, see (DRDC1-17510).
  10. STORAGE/ISILON: Updated the Storage System name to have a more relevant name. For details, see (DRDC1-17530).
  11. NETWORK/TOPOLOGY: Enhanced LLDP pattern to handle different hostnames format to prevent ECA error. For details, see (DRDC1-17496).
  12. UI/VISUALIZATION: enhancements for Discovery entities grouping. For details, see (DRDC1-17333).
  13. HOST/OS: Added Novell OES as a supported discoverable Linux Operating System distribution. For details, see (DRDC1-11409).
  14. HOST/OS: Enhanced os_version attribute for OpenVMS. For details, see (DRDC1-17507).
  15. HOST: Enhanced device_type identification for Windows Server 2022. For details, see (DRDC1-17512).
  16. CMDB/SYNC: Enhanced Namespaces synchronization without relationship to Deployment. For details, see (DRDC1-17461).


Defects

The following defects were fixed in Product Content 2021-Nov-1: 

  1. HOST: ssh credentials can't be added if kerberos auth is used. For details, see (DRUD1-34494).
  1. HOST: OpenBSD HostInfo script specifies wrong path for dmidecode. For details, see (DRDC1-17637).
  1. HOST: FreeBSD HostInfo script specifies wrong path for dmidecode. For details, see (DRDC1-17613).
  1. HOST: FreeBSD tries to use obsolete package command. For details, see (DRDC1-17612).

Changes to discovery commands

Discovery commands are unchanged in Product Content 2021Nov-1.

Model changes

For the TKU November release the following model change has been introduced:

  1. NETWORK/UI: Taxonomy was updated to support linkage from Detail node to Load Balancer Service. For details, see (DRDC1-16963).
