Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2020-Sep-1

BMC Discovery Technology Knowledge Update 2020-Sep-1 is a deliverable for BMC Discovery 11.1, 11.2 and 11.3 and 12.0 series.

Product content updates require appliance restart

This TKU release contains product content additions. When product content is added, the appliance is restarted as part of the update. You are given the opportunity to prevent the restart, though if you do so, none of the knowledge content will be installed.

Product content updates require appliance restart

TKU-Sep-1 release presents the ability to create a separate SI for each Sybase instance on a host. It means on hosts where there are multiple Sybase instances users will, for a short time, see both to the old Sybase SIs (with no instance information) and the new Sybase SIs (with instance information). This will resolve automatically when the legacy Sybase SIs become obsolete.
For more information, refer to DRDC1-15241.

Product content updates require appliance restart

Changes in this release for the Database Detail node type may impact CMDB sync. The code to extract the latest version of the product within a collection of .jar files was updated. In addition, a new lookup table was added to convert the version in a binary file such as flashd91_build001.jar into the corresponding AR Server version. For more information, refer to DRDC1-14928.

BMC_Document CIs attributes

In this TKU release, we have introduced a new sync mapping pattern that maps Detail nodes with type "TLS Certificate" to the BMC_Document CIs. This mapping is enabled by default, and could add additional data to the CMDB. For more information, see CDM Mapping for Host.

Important Note for BMC Discovery

If you use BMC Discovery 12.0 (20.02), you must install Patch 2 before you install the August TKU. More information on the patch is available here, Patch 2 for version 20.02.
