  • BMC Atrium Discovery Technology Knowledge Update
    • Core - Patterns that model various software products
    • Database detail - Patterns that extend some of the core database patterns to obtain additional detailed information about certain databases
  • BMC Atrium Discovery Extended Data Pack
    • Product Lifecycle - Patterns that populate Atrium Discovery with information about End-of-Life, End-of-Support, and End-of-Extended-Support for versions of certain host Operating Systems as well as versions of certain software products
    • Hardware Reference Data - Patterns and data import CSV file that populate Atrium Discovery with power and heat consumption figures for various hosts.

IBM

Tivoli Netcool/Webtop

The module has been enhanced with an additional pattern to identify and version IBM Tivoli/Netcool product versions 2.1 and below. In addition to this, the IBMTivoliNetcoolWebtop22 pattern has had its pacakge versioning regular expression improved.

N

Parallels

Virtuozzo Containers

Active versioning command on Linux changed to simplify the parsing of the output to obtain the version. In addition to this, the way the Virtuozzo Containers are modeled was changed based on some additional research done after the release of the original pattern. Finally, a pattern to link the container with the virtual host running within the container has been added to the module.

Bugs Fixed

The following bugs have been fixed in BMC Atrium Discovery Technology Knowledge Update 2009-Nov-1

Case No

Defect No

Details

Pattern Module

N/A

12550

Setting of product version in StorageFoundationWindows pattern made consistent irrespective of how the version is obtained

N/A

12555

Microsoft Office Communications Server module re-organized so that the original one pattern broken out into 3 separate patterns. The original pattern tried to identify all components of this product whereas now separate patterns are used to achieve this

N/A

12575

Additional version added to the full version to product version mapping table

N/A

12578

Lotus Domino Server pattern was not showing additional attributes set on the SI in the UI. Pattern now fixed so that these attributes are displayed when the SI node is viewed

N/A

12595, 12597

IBM WebSphere Business Modeler pattern could continue to execute even if it hadn't confirmed that the product is installed (12595). Additionally, the pattern could attempt to obtain license information even if it could not construct the full path required to obtain this information. Both of these issues are now resolved.

N/A

12596

IBM InfoSphere Replication Server pattern had an issue where The code that was meant to check whether the trigger process is owned by 'root' user on UNIX hosts (and stop if that is the case as these are child processes of the actual process of interest) had an issue which would lead to the pattern always stopping on Solaris hosts. This issue has now been resolved.

22739

12604

Older versions of VERITAS Storage Foundation for Windows were not being recognized as the pattern did not check through a sufficient number of package names combinations (done to confirm presence) in the VERITAS Enterprise Administrator pattern (the trigger for creation of VERITAS Storage foundation for Windows SI). Additional package names have been added.

19387

12631

A search query in the VMware Virtual Center Agent pattern that attempts to locate the managing Virtual Center Server was shown to be very inefficient in large virtualized estate. The pattern has been updated with a much more efficient search query.

N/A

12654

Lighttpd pattern had a superfluous space in the 'name' attribute of the created SI.

N/A

12657

SAP Application Server pattern had an incorrect regular expression where it was trying to extract profile directory information which meant that this secondary approach to obtaining profile directory information would always fail. The regular expression has now been fixed.

N/A

12661

In Symantec VERITAS Storage Foundation for Windows pattern, the Detail node containing license information had a large number of superfluous spaces in its 'name' attribute.

N/A

12683

BMC Control-M/Server pattern had an issue whereup it could exit with an ECAEngine error if installed versions file not obtained. The pattern now tests that the file is obtained before trying to manipulate the data.

N/A

12690

In Symantec VERITAS Cluster Server pattern, if the code to remove Detail nodes containing license information was invoked, this could lead to an ECA Engine error. The way model.destroy() is called has now been corrected and issue resolved.

N/A

12690

In Oracle Transparent Gateways pattern, if the code to remove Detail nodes containing detailed Gateways information was invoked, this could lead to an ECA Engine error. The way model.destroy() is called has now been corrected and issue resolved.

N/A

12725

Problem: Certain patterns can create SI key that is long (over 256 characters in length). Long SI keys create problems with export CMDBs. Pattern modules affected are: Autonomy IDOL, Flowerfire Sawmill, Red Hat JBoss Application Server, Microsoft Office Groove, Sybase SDK, IBM Tivoli Directory Integrator Solution: Patterns in these modules have been updated in such a way that the components of the SI key that are likely to be long have now been tranmuted using a hash function. NOTE: The patterns in these modules now have an updated SI key.

Extended Data Pack

Product Lifecycle Patterns

You can use Tideway Foundation / BMC Atrium Discovery 8.x and OS / Software product lifecycle data to:

  • Identify operating systems and software that are exposed to security / stability risks as they are no longer supported by patch updates
  • Identify operating systems and software that you may may be paying a premium maintenance subscription for
  • Identify operating systems and software that are no longer shipping so may increase costs and risks associated with variance

Operating System Product Lifecycle Patterns
TKU 2009-Nov-1 includes product life cycle patterns providing End Of Life, End Of Support and End Of Extended Support dates for:

  • 11 publishers
  • 17 operating systems
  • 177 operating system versions

Go to the OS-Product-Life-Cycle-Patterns-TKU-2009-Nov-1 page for a full list of products included in this release.
