Telco nodes

A Telco taxonomy extension is available with node kinds suitable for Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to use. The node kinds represent the type of infrastructure and services employed by CSPs.

Lifecycle

All of the telco nodes are imported from data sources. BMC Discovery only provides the taxonomy definitions, it does not populate or modify this model in any way. 

Telco nodes are not synchronized to the CMDB.

Enabling the telco nodes

Warning

Use of the tw_options command is restricted. Unless explicitly instructed by BMC Support, you must not change any other tw_options options as it may result in unexpected BMC Discovery behavior.

To enable the telco nodes:

  1. Log in to the appliance command line as the tideway user.

  2. Enable the telco nodes. Enter the following command and when prompted, enter the system user's UI password.

    [tideway@appliance01 ~]$ tw_options TAXONOMY_TELECOMS=TRUE

    The utility makes the change and lists the current options to stdout.

  3. Import the updated taxonomy. Enter:

    [tideway@localhost ~]$ tw_tax_import
    Password for BMC Discovery UI user system:
    Taxonomy imported. You do not need to restart services.
    [tideway@localhost ~]$
  4. Exit from the command line prompt.


 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
