Logging into the BMC Discovery Outpost as an administrator


There are two kinds of access to the BMC Discovery Outpost:

  • Access to the Outpost's credential management UI
  • Access to the Outpost's administration UI

When you attempt to manage credentials in the BMC Discovery service UI, the request is sent to the applicable BMC Discovery Outpost. If you have permissions to configure credentials, you are automatically logged into the Outpost as your current user, an authenticated service user that has permissions to view and modify credentials. 

Any management of the Outpost is undertaken using the Outpost's local Administrator which you configure when you install the Outpost. 

A credential that permits you to manage credentials does not permit you to perform administration tasks on the Outpost. Similarly, a credential that permits you to perform administration tasks on the Outpost does not permit you to manage credentials.

To log in to the BMC Discovery Outpost as an administrator

  1. Either:
    • Select Start >  BMC Software > Outpost Management.
      Your browser opens and displays the BMC Discovery Outpost administrator login page.
    • Or, navigate to the following URL:
      https://localhost:8080/adminlogin
  2. Enter the administrator password into the password field and click LOG IN.

If you use an incorrect administrator password three times you are prevented from attempting to log in again for ten minutes. 

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
