Reporting basics
BMC Discovery includes a number of predefined reports. Reports operate in the same way as searches: when you select a report, a query is run to find matching objects. The results are displayed in the form of a list page, from which you can select details of individual objects.
You can add all these reports to a dashboard. For more information, see Default-dashboards and Customizing-dashboards.
You can locate reports using the search in the UI. The keywords you enter there are matched against the titles and descriptions of the reports.
The following section lists the reports that are available in BMC Discovery:
- Discovery Operation
- BMC Discovery Deployment
- Discovery Diagnostics
- Service and Application Change Impact
- Infrastructure
- Infrastructure in Context
- Virtualization and Partitioning
- Cluster
- Operating Systems
- New Entities
- Software
- Load Balancer
- Host Storage
- NAS Storage

Discovery Operation
Report Name | Description |
---|---|
Current Endpoint Access Analysis | Allows the analysis of the latest endpoint access to assist discovery troubleshooting. |
Failing Host Endpoints | Shows the endpoints that have previously been used to successfully scan Hosts, but where the most recent scan failed. |
Summary of Last Host Access | Shows a chart (pie, bar, column) summary of the access method used on the last access to each Host. |
Devices near Removal Threshold | Show a list of scanned devices that have not been confirmed, and so are near their removal thresholds. Gives an approximate indication of the removal deadline. |
Devices with Endpoint Identity Change | Shows a list of IP addresses for which the most recently discovered device is different from the device previously discovered via that address. That may be because the previous device has a new IP address because it has been decommissioned, or because it has changed so much that it appears to be a different device. |
Seen but unscanned IPs | This report displays details of Hosts that were seen but not scanned. That is, a Host that was not discovered, for example, because it was behind a firewall or on a subnet that was not scanned. However, its existence can be inferred by network connections to its IP address from known hosts. |
Seen but unscanned IPs with Ports | This report displays details of Hosts that were seen but not scanned. That is, a Host that was not discovered, for example, because it was behind a firewall or on a subnet that was not scanned. However, its existence can be inferred by network connections to its IP address from known hosts. This report includes which port the connection was to. |
Seen but unscanned IPs Detail Report | This report displays details of Hosts that were seen but not scanned. That is, a Host that was not discovered, for example, because it was behind a firewall or on a subnet that was not scanned. However, its existence can be inferred by network connections to its IP address from known hosts. |

Aged-out Hosts and other devices that failed last CMDB sync | Shows Hosts, Network Devices, and other root device types that are marked destroyed, but were not successfully synchronized with the CMDB on the most recent attempt. These devices should be synchronized manually, to ensure they are not present in the CMDB. |
