22.1 enhancements and patches


BMC Discovery 22.1 (12.4) runs on CentOS 7 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux. You can upgrade directly to BMC Discovery version 22.1 (12.4) from version 20.02 (12.0) and later if you retain the same OS. To move from CentOS 7 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, you must install BMC Discovery 22.1 (12.4) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and then migrate your data. To migrate your data, you must back up the CentOS based appliance and restore it to a new BMC Discovery appliance running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

To move from Red Hat Enterprise Linux to CentOS, you must install BMC Discovery 22.1 (12.4) on CentOS and then migrate your data.

Discover Google Compute Engine instances by using Identity-Aware Proxy

BMC Discovery supports the full discovery of Google Compute Engine (GCE) hosts during a Google cloud scan by using Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP). You also have access to GCE instances in private networks. For more information, see Discovering-hosts-in-GCP-by-using-IAP.

Enhanced mainframe discovery includes observed communications

BMC Discovery supports the discovery and modeling of observed communication from mainframe computers. The feature name is Mainframe Connection Linking, and is separately licensed and enabled.

Intelligent discovery of cloud services by region

The discovery of cloud services by region is enhanced with the following features:

  • The discovery process requests the details of cloud services for a particular region only if that service is available in that region.
  • The discovery process is optimized and efficient.
  • Discovery Access results do not show errors for non-existent services.
