Viewing a network printer
A network printer object in BMC Discovery represents any printer in an estate. Network printers are discovered using SNMP credentials. Printer discovery definitions can be added or modified in the same manner as network devices through a Technology Knowledge Update (TKU).
To view a network printer
- From the main menu, select Explore > Data.
The Infrastructure page opens. - In the Network & Printers section, click Printers.
- Select a printer from the list.
The following screen illustrates an example of a discovered network printer.
The information fields for a discovered network printer object are arranged in the following groups:
- General Details—General information about the network printer such as its name, vendor, and model. For more information, see General Details.
- Identity—Information about domain names and IP addresses. For more information, see Identity.
- Operating System—The Operating system information for the network printer. For more information, see Operating System.
- Infrastructure—Information about the services that the network printer provides. For more information, see Infrastructure.
- Inference—The inference details. For more information, see Inference for more information.
General Details
The following table lists information fields that can be displayed in the General Details group for a network printer.
Identity
The following table lists information fields that can be displayed in the Identity group for a network printer object.
Operating System
The following table lists information fields that can be displayed in the Operating System group for a network device object.
Infrastructure
The following table lists information fields that can be displayed in the Infrastructure group for a network printer object.
