Cisco Catalyst Center
Description
Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly Cisco DNA Center) is a network management and automation platform that provides centralized control and automation for Cisco Catalyst networking infrastructure, such as switches, routers, and wireless controllers.
Supported Discovery versions
BMC Discovery 22.01 (12.4) and later.
Prerequisites
To properly discover Cisco Catalyst Center appliances, ensure the following:
Cisco Catalyst Center REST API credential is configured; see Adding credentials.
- On Cisco Catalyst Center appliances, TCP 443 is open and accessible from BMC Discovery.
How it works
BMC Discovery sends a web request to the target Cisco Catalyst Center appliance and attempts to parse the platform landing page. Then, BMC Discovery checks for matches with keywords specific to Cisco Catalyst Center.
If the parser matches, BMC Discovery attempts to authenticate by using the configured Cisco Catalyst Center REST API credential. Then, BMC Discovery sends REST API requests to obtain platform-wide attributes to identify the platform and creates a Host node based on the obtained data.
Triggers
The Cisco Catalyst Center pattern is triggered by the Host node that has the following attribute values:
Pattern | Trigger node | Attribute | Condition | Argument | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cisco_Catalyst_Center | Host | vendor | = | 'Cisco Systems' | |
and | os | = | 'Cisco Catalyst Center' | ||
and | serial | exists |
The pattern sends REST API requests to obtain information about the nodes on which the Catalyst Center is deployed. If the Cisco Catalyst Center platform is deployed on several Host nodes, a corresponding cluster is modeled.
The pattern creates a single Software Instance on each of the deployed Catalyst Center hosts for software running on them. It then requests information about devices managed by the Cisco Catalyst Center platform through REST API.
Based on the collected data for managed devices, the pattern attempts to find candidates from the discovered Cisco Systems network devices. Then, the pattern creates a Management link between Cisco Catalyst Center SI and all discovered devices.
