Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Oct-1

Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Oct-1 provides information about new scanning capabilities in the 23.3, 24.1, 24.2, 24.3, and 25.2 versions of BMC Discovery.

Warning
Important
  • New release timing: On-prem TKU releases move from the first Wednesday to the third Wednesday of each month.
  • New naming convention: Starting with September 2025, releases will be named for the following month, so:
    • The release on Wednesday September 17, 2025 will be called TKU 2025-Oct.
    • No release will be named TKU 2025-Sep.
    • This is so that production deployments are most likely to have the TKU named after the current month, once normal dev-test-production roll-out schedules are followed.

When it's happening

  • First adjusted release: TKU 2025-Oct (third week of September 2025).
  • This release kicks off the new schedule pattern going forward.

Why it’s happening

  • This change aligns the on-premises TKU release schedule with our SaaS deployment readiness schedule.

Information

Release highlights

In this release, we are delivering:

API Discovery

  • Added support for Cloud Foundry API Discovery. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-23976).
  • Added support for Rubrik Security Cloud API Discovery. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-16292).

Certificates

  • We now discover a TLS certificate for Citrix NetScaler VPX. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24089).

Cloud

  • AWS: Tags retrieved from AWS.APIGateway.GetRESTAPIs are now added to the associated AWS API Gateway REST API SoftwareInstance nodes. Similarly, tags from AWS.APIGateway.GetStages are now applied to the corresponding API Stage SoftwareComponent nodes. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-27188).
  • AZURE: Added a new region — Vienna, Austria (austriaeast). For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-27300).
  • AZURE: Added relationships between Microsoft Azure Web Apps and the following database engines (for more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24868):
    • Cosmos DB API for MongoDB
    • MySQL - Flexible Server
    • PostgreSQL - Flexible Server
    • SQLAzure
  • AZURE: Added support for the Microsoft Azure Web PubSub service. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-27170).
  • GCP: Added firewall policies for Google Virtual Private Cloud. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24557).
  • OCI: Enhanced OCI Virtual Cloud Network (VCN) support by adding discovery and modeling of related NetworkServices, including Subnets, Routers, and Gateways. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-26917).

EOL

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux: The SupportDetail pattern for Red Hat Enterprise Linux has been rewritten to improve accuracy and flexibility in handling End of Life (EOL) data. Key updates include:
    • Support for all the extended support schemes (EUS, E4S, ELS, and EEUS) by tailoring End of Extended Support and End of Security Support dates based on host subscriptions.
    • Enhanced handling of Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS by identifying CoreOS in the os_name or os_release attributes to assign correct EOL data.
    • Introduction of the os_extended_update attribute to the SupportDetail node for improved tracking of extended subscriptions.

For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24798).

Network devices

  • Improved linkage between the F5 Networks device and the related virtual machine (DRDC1-27130).
  • Updated Brocade SNMP to retrieve Dell Service Tags as serial numbers for Dell-owned devices. For more details, see (DRDC1-26808).

Patterns

  • Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM): Added support for the discovery of Oracle Linux Virtual Machines. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-23722).
  • Red Hat JBoss Application Server: In TKU releases earlier than October 2025, Red Hat JBoss Application Server and Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) used different versioning numbers. This often led to the EAP version being assigned to a Red Hat JBoss Application Server SoftwareInstance (SI), resulting in inaccurate or non-existent End of Life dates. To address this inconsistency, we updated the pattern to distinguish between Red Hat JBoss Application Server and Red Hat Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) installations. Two new attributes, eap_version and wildfly_version, have been introduced to store an alternative version for the SoftwareInstance. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-26188).

Storage

  • Added Identification Timeout Options to the Web API credential page of the following storage patterns (for more details, see (DRDC1-27098):
    • BeyondTrust
    • Ceph
    • Cisco Catalyst Center
    • Cohesity
    • Dell EMC Compellent
    • Dell EMC Data Domain
    • Dell EMC ECS
    • Dell EMC PowerVault
    • EMC Isilon
    • EMC PowerFlex
    • HDI
    • Hitachi Ops Center Administrator
    • Hitachi Storage
    • HP Moonshot
    • HPE Greenlake
