Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2025-Mar-1

BMC Discovery Technology Knowledge Update 2025-Mar-1 provides information about new scanning capabilities in the 22.1, 22.2, 23.1, 23.3, 24.1, 24.2, and 24.3 versions of BMC Discovery.

Release highlights

In this release, we are delivering:

Cloud

OCI: Added support for HardwareContainers and Clusters in different compartments for the Oracle Exadata Database Service. Also, the pattern's software key has been updated. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24264).

CMDB sync

Added an ability to optionally modify the CTI (category, type, item) values. By default, the CTI values remain "Unknown". HEADS-UP: In TKU April 2025, we will change the default CTI values. For more details, see the documentation here.

Patterns

Containers: Deprecated modeling of terminated Software Containers for Podman, containerd, and CRI-O container runtimes. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-25156).
Kubernetes improvements: Improved removal groups usage to prevent node duplication and obsolete nodes existence. Also, the pattern's software key has been updated. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-25655, DRDC1-25231).
NUTANIX: Added Host OS version for Acropolis Hypervisors by using Nutanix API (V2 and V3). For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24748).

Oracle RDBMS improvements:
- Improved how the pattern handles INTERMEDIATE and OFFLINE states on cluster services associated to the Oracle Database cluster. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-25680).
- Optimized the use of SQL queries to improve scan performance. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-25402).

Storage

HEADS-UP: The "Allocated Capacity" attribute of Storage System nodes will be deprecated in TKU April 2025. Added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute in the Dell EMC PowerMax and Dell EMC SC Series patterns. It is identical to the "Allocated Capacity" attribute. Also, added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute to the IBM FlashSystem pattern.
Added Identification Timeout options to the REST API with web basic authentication credential page. For more details, see the documentationhere and (DRDC1-25256).
Dell EMC PowerStore: Added support for the discovery of the File Systems Information and NAS Server information. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-23609).

BMC-Discovery-Extended-Data-Pack-2025-Mar-1
- Hardware Reference Data - Patterns and data import CSV file that populates BMC Discovery with power and heat consumption figures for various hosts.
- National Vulnerability Database - A pattern that populates BMC Discovery with information about the CPE ID of each product.
- Product Lifecycle - Patterns that populate BMC Discovery with information about End-of-Life, End-of-Support, and End-of-Extended-Support for versions of specific host Operating Systems and interpretations of certain software products.
