BMC Discovery Technology Knowledge Update 2025-Jan-1 provides information about new scanning capabilities in the 22.1, 22.2, 23.1, 23.3, 24.1, 24.2, and 24.3 versions of BMC Discovery.

Release highlights

In this release, we are delivering:

Cloud

GCP: Added a new cloud region — Queretaro, Mexico (northamerica-south1). For more details, see (DRDC1-25270) and the documentation here.

CMDB sync

Added an ability to optionally modify the CTI (category, type, item) values. By default, the CTI values remain "Unknown". HEADS-UP: In TKU April 2025, we will change the default CTI values. For more details, see the documentation here
and (DRDC1-23486).

Network devices

Created edge connectivity links for Aruba access points. For more details, see (DRDC1-22545).

Patterns

Added support for IBM AS/400 systems. Enhanced the extended discovery of IBM host with the DB2 credential. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-23748).
Improved the modeling of the DB2 data-sharing group and databases. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-23669).
Updated the pattern to create relationships between Microsoft Azure VM Scale Sets and Kubernetes API hosts. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24744).
Updated the pattern to discover the Oracle DB table size. For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-23794).

Storage

HEADS-UP: The "Allocated Capacity" attribute of Storage System nodes will be deprecated in TKU April 2025. Added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute in the Dell EMC PowerMax and Dell EMC SC Series patterns. It is identical to the "Allocated Capacity" attribute. Also, added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute to the IBM FlashSystem pattern. For more details, see (DRDC1-22592).
Added Identification Timeout Options to the Nimble Storage and Pure Storage FlashBlade Web API credential pages. For more details, see (DRDC1-23324 and DRDC1-25065).
Added support for Hitachi Ops Center Administrator (REST). For more details, see the documentation here and (DRDC1-24658).
Added support for HPE Alletra Storage Device (SNMP). For more details, see (DRDC1-25146).

- Extended Database discovery - Patterns that extend some of the core database patterns to obtain additional detailed information about certain databases.
- Middleware discovery - Patterns that obtain detailed information about certain J2EE Application Servers and Web servers.
- Network Device Integration Module with associated Network Device definition files, Printer definition files, and SNMP managed devices definition files.
- System - Patterns that detect configuration issues and populate Discovery Conditions BMC Discovery 22.1, BMC Discovery 22.2, BMC Discovery 23.1, BMC Discovery 23.3, BMC Discovery 24.1, BMC Discovery 24.2, BMC Discovery 24.3and patterns used by the BMC CMDB sync system.

BMC-Discovery-Extended-Data-Pack-2025-Jan-1
- Hardware Reference Data - Patterns and data import CSV file that populates BMC Discovery with power and heat consumption figures for various hosts.
- National Vulnerability Database - A pattern that populates BMC Discovery with information about the CPE ID of each product.
- Product Lifecycle - Patterns that populate BMC Discovery with information about End-of-Life, End-of-Support, and End-of-Extended-Support for versions of specific host Operating Systems and interpretations of certain software products.

BMC Discovery for Storage is a separately licensable product.
- Storage Systems - Patterns that model many Storage Systems.
- Storage System Release Notes provides the latest Storage updates and improvements to existing Storage patterns.

BMC Discovery for ServiceNow is a separately licensable product.
