Product content TKU 2025-Feb-2

Copy-of-Technology-Knowledge-Update-TKU-2025-Feb-1 contains additional product content for the 22.1, 22.2, 23.1, 23.3, 24.1, 24.2, and 24.3 versions of BMC Discovery.

Product content updates require appliance restart

This TKU release contains product content additions. The appliance is restarted when product content is added to the update. You can prevent the restart, but none of the knowledge content will be installed if you do so.

The following features and enhancements are introduced within the scope of this release: 

  • CMDB SYNC: Added an ability to optionally modify the CTI (category, type, item) values. By default, the CTI values remain "Unknown". HEADS-UP: In TKU April 2025, we will change the default CTI values. For more details, see the documentation here

  • STORAGE: HEADS-UP: The "Allocated Capacity" attribute of Storage System nodes will be deprecated in TKU April 2025. Added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute in the Dell EMC PowerMax and Dell EMC SC Series patterns. It is identical to the "Allocated Capacity" attribute. Also, added the "Total Logical Consumed Capacity" attribute to the IBM FlashSystem pattern. For more details, see (DRDC1-22592).
  • CLOUD: Added new cloud regions (for more details, see DRDC1-25405 and DRDC1-25467):
    • ALIBABA: Bangkok (ap-southeast-7), Guangzhou (cn-guangzhou), Manila (ap-southeast-6), and Seoul (ap-northeast-2).
    • AWS: Bangkok, Thailand (ap-southeast-7) and Queretaro, Mexico (mx-central-1).
    • AZURE: Auckland, New Zealand (newzealandnorth).
  • CLOUD: CloudService nodes are now removed when no resources are used. For more details, see (DRDC1-25186).
  • CLOUD/AZURE: Changed the NodeKind for Microsoft Azure Virtual Networks to AdminCollection. For more details, see the documentation  here and here; (DRDC1-23707).
  • CLOUD/OCI: Started filtering OCI VMs by the lifecycle_state attribute to differentiate OCI Hosts in the Terminated state. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-25175).
  • CLOUD/OPENSTACK: Added support for OpenStack Neutron Networking. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-24149).
  • CMDB SYNC: Kubernetes Load Balancer Service nodes are now mapped from Namespace and do not model dependency links to Cluster node (DRDC1-25078).
  • CONTAINERS: Added support for modeling container images as a node by introducing a new node kind — ContainerImage. It will replace Image Detail node for Software Container. For more details, see the documentation for Kubernetes, Docker, CRIO, Podman, containerd and (DRDC1-23249).
  • NETWORK DEVICES: Added support for the discovery of Cisco Catalyst Center. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-23591).
  • NETWORK DEVICES: Added support for the discovery of Lenovo XClarity through REST API. For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-24586).
  • NETWORK DEVICES: Updated the firmware_version format from switch-version (for example, switch-16-9) to version (for example, 16.9) for Meraki devices scanned through API. For more details, see (DRDC1-25409).

  • STORAGE: Added Identification Timeout Options to the Pure Storage FlashArray REST API credential page. For more details, see the documentationhere and (DRDC1-25090).

  • STORAGE: Added support for HPE GreenLake For File Storage (REST). For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-24418).
  • STORAGE: Added the REST API enhanced endpoint to optimize the discovery of the storage volumes and the scan duration for Dell EMC PowerMax (REST). For more details, see the documentation  here and (DRDC1-24206).

Defects

The following defect is fixed within the scope of this release: 

  • CMDB SYNC: Resolved an issue with inconsistent Azure CMDB Syncing. For more details, see (DRDC1-25160).
  • CMDB SYNC: Resolved an issue related to relationship modeling for Kubernetes Load Balancer Services. For more details, see (DRDC1-25078).
  • KUBERNETES: Resolved an issue related to cluster duplicate search. For more details, see (DRDC1-25219, DRDC1-25220, and DRDC1-25222).
  • LOAD BALANCERS: Resolved an issue related to the getObsPort() function giving an ECA error when an IP address value was None. For more details, see (DRDC1-24954).
  • NUTANIX: Resolved several issues with incorrect heuristics for Nutanix Prism Central when scanned with REST API. For more details, see (DRDC1-24836).
  • RANCHER: Resolved an issue with incorrectly identified Rancher Cluster names. For more details, see (DRDC1-25223).
  • STORAGE/Dell EMC PowerMax: Resolved an issue related to missing volumes when scanning multiple storage systems. For more details, see (DRDC1-25287).
  • STORAGE/Dell EMC PowerStore: Fixed an ECA error that occurred when REST API did not return a value for the pool capacity. For more details, see (DRDC1-25281).
  • STORAGE/Dell EMC Unity: Resolved an issue with missing Host Side Linking for Dell EMC Unity REST API discovery. For more details, see (DRDC1-25329).

Changes to discovery commands

Discovery commands are unchanged in Product Content 2025-Feb-2.

Model changes

  • TAXONOMY: Added a new ContainerImage node and relationship between ContainerImage and SoftwareContainer. For more details, see (DRDC1-23249).
