Scality Ring storage systems are discovered using SSH and the Scality Supervisor API. During routine discovery, when a host running the bizstoresup process is detected, a Scality Supervisor Software Instance node is discovered via SSH access. Once the Scality Supervisor Software Instance is discovered, the appropriate storage pattern is triggered and BMC Discovery continues the discovery of the Scality RING storage entities through REST API calls to the Scality Supervisor API.

Prerequisites

• Requires BMC Discovery v12.0 or higher.
• Port 443 should be open on the firewall to perform REST API calls to the Scality Supervisor API.

Procedure

1. Configure new credentials of type "SSH" using a user account with access to the host where the Scality Supervisor software is installed and running.
2. Configure new credentials of type "REST API with basic authentication" using a user account authorized to perform REST API calls to the Scality Supervisor API.
3. Scan the IP address of the host where the Scality Supervisor software is installed and running.
