Ceph Storage Systems
Ceph storage systems are discovered via Ceph Manager by scanning the Host. As part of routine discovery, when a Host with ceph-mgr process is encountered, a Software Instance Ceph Manager node is automatically added to the BMC Discovery infrastructure. Once discovered, the storage entities are modeled in BMC Discovery.
Prerequisites
Discovering using Ceph Manger installed on a Host:
- Requires BMC Discovery v12.0 and higher.
- SSH and REST API credentials valid for the Ceph Manager. SSH credentials should be entered as host where Ceph Manager is installed and REST API credentials for Ceph API service.
- Update the default setting value of the attribute HTTPS_PORTS to 8443.
- Login to the appliance with user credentials and click Administration > Discovery Configuration.
- Add the 8443 value to the attribute HTTPS_PORTS (ex: HTTPS_PORTS=443,8443).
Procedure
- Create “CEPH API” credentials in BMC Discovery by providing the Ceph user account with REST API access.
- Directly scan the IP Address of the Host where Ceph Manager is installed.
Discovering directly using Ceph API service:
- Requires BMC Discovery v12.0 and higher.
- REST API credentials for Ceph API service.
- Directly scan the IP Address of the Ceph node.
