Storage Systems Information
To access the collected information for IBM Spectrum Scale storage systems:
- From the Home page, locate the Quick View section and click the Storage System icon to display the list of the discovered storage systems.
- In the Storage System list, double-click the IBM Spectrum Scale storage system you wish to access.
The table below lists the System Storage Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.
Storage System Information | Description |
|---|---|
Name | The name of the storage system. |
Type | The type name of the storage system. |
Client Access Types | The ways in which a client host can access the storage that this system is providing. This may be SAN, NAS, or SAN and NAS. |
Vendor | The storage system vendor. |
Model | The name of the storage system model. |
Serial Number | The serial number of the storage system. |
Status | The operational status of the storage system. To simplify the reading, the status values are categorized as OK, Degraded, Failed, or Offline. |
Status Detail | The operational storage system status as exposed by the device's vendor. |
Software Version | The version number of the software. |
Total Oversubscribed Capacity | The total space oversubscribed in the storage system in bytes. |
Managed By | The software managing the storage system and the host on which it is running. |
Contained Storage Pools | The number of related storage pools. This is also a link to the Storage Pool List page. |
Storage Volumes | Displays the number of related storage volumes. This is also a link to the Storage Volume List page. To see the storage volume page, click the corresponding table row. |
Disk Drive Providers | Displays the number of related disk drives. This is also a link to the Disk Drive List page. |
Cluster / Group | The name of the cluster/group related to the storage system. |
Software Instance Information
This section provides information about the software instance of the storage system.
To access the collected information for software instances:
- In the Storage System page, locate the Managed By section.
- Click the name of the Software Instance.
The table below lists the Software Instance Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.
Software Instance Information | Description |
|---|---|
Name | The name of the host system. Typically composed of the Software Instance Name, the Product Version, and the name of the Host. |
Type | The type of the software instance that manages the storage system. |
Configipedia Page | The name of the associated Configipedia page link. |
Instance Count | The number of identical software instances for the hosting server. |
Full Version | The version of the software plus the build number. |
Product Version | The version publicized by the vendor. |
Host | The name of the server hosting the software instance. |
Observed Connections | The list of connections related to the software instance. |
Cluster | The cluster containing this software instance. |
Cluster Internal Name | The internal name of the cluster. |
Cluster Identifier | The unique identifier of the cluster. |
Manages Storage Systems | The list of the storage systems managed by the software instance. Refer to the Storage Systems Information section for details. |
Manages Storage System Groups | The list of the storage system groups managed by the software instance. |
Maintaining Pattern | The pattern used to create the software instance. |
Primary Processes | The primary process that identifies this software. |
Storage System Group Information
This section provides information about the storage system group for the selected storage system.
To access the collected information for the storage system group, click the Storage System Group Link in the Cluster / Group section available from the Storage System page.

Name | Name of the storage system group. |
Type | The type of the storage system group. |
Storage Systems | The storage system(s) related to the storage system group. This is also a link to the Storage System page. |
Software Instance | The software managing the storage system group and the host on which it is running. |
Storage Pools | The storage pool(s) related to the storage system group. This is also a link to the Storage Pool page |
File Systems | The file system(s) related to the storage system group. This is also a link to the File Systems page. |
Cluster Id | The unique identifier of the cluster |
Host Information
This section provides information about the hosting server of the storage system.
To access the collected information for hosting servers:
- From the Software Instance page, click the name of the Host you wish to access.

To access the collected information for file systems, click the File Systems link available in the Storage System Group page.

Filesystem Name | The name of the file system. |
Kind | The file system kind. For example, EXPORTED. |
Type | The file system type. For example, NFS. |
Size | The file system size in bytes. |
Used | The space used on the file system in bytes. |
Storage System Group | Name of the storage system group for this file system. This is also a link to the Storage System Group page. |
Storage Pool | Names of the storage Pools for this file system. This is also a link to the Storage Pools page. |
Mounted As | The list of links to remote network file system. |
Subsidiary Filesystems | The subsidiary File System for this file system. |
Storage Pools Information
This section provides information about the storage pools for the selected storage system.
To access the collected information for storage pools, click a Storage Pool name from the Storage System Group page.
The table below lists the Storage Pools Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.

Pool ID | The ID of the storage pool. |
Type | The type of the storage pool. For example, Concrete. |
Name | The name of the storage pool. |
Capacity | The usable capacity of the storage pool. |
Consumed Capacity | The space actually consumed in the storage pool in bytes. |
Percentage Consumed | The percentage of space consumed in the storage pool |
Available Capacity | The total capacity not consumed in the storage system in bytes. |
Oversubscribed Capacity | The total space oversubscribed in the storage pool. |
Disk Drives | Displays the number of related disk drives. This is also a link to the Disk Drive List page. |
Storage System Group | The name of the storage system group for this storage pool. This is also a link to the Storage System Groups page. |
File Systems | Displays the number of related file systems. This is also a link to the File Systems List page. |
Disk Drives Information
This section provides information about the disk drives for the selected storage system.
To access the collected information for disk drives, click a Disk Drive name in the Storage Pool page.
The table below lists the Disk Drives Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.

Name | The name of the disk drive. |
Type | The type of the disk drive. For example HDD. |
Size | The size of the disk drive in bytes. |
Current State | State of the disk drive. For example: OK. |
Virtual | The virtual disks associated to the disk drive. This is also a link to the Virtual Disks page. |
Storage Pool | Name of the storage pool for this Disk Drive. This is also a link to the Storage Pools page. |
Storage System Consumer | The number of storage system associated to the disk drive. |
IP Address Information
This section provides information about the IPv4 addresses used by the storage system.
To access the collected information for the IPv4 addresses, click a IP Address Link of the Network Interface page.
The table below lists the IP Address Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.
IP Address Information | Description |
|---|---|
IP Address | The IP address of the storage system node. |
Type | The type of IP address. |
Netmask | Indicates which part of the IP address is reserved for the network and which part is available for host use. |
Broadcast Address | The broadcast address within the subnet. |
Network Interface | The network interface related to the IP address. |
Host | The host related to the IP address. This is also a link to the Host page. |
Subnet | The sub-networks for the IP address. |
FQDNs | The fully qualified domain name related to the IP address. |
