IBM Spectrum Control Storage Systems (REST)

Storage systems managed by IBM Spectrum Control can be discovered via IBM Spectrum Control REST API by scanning the host on which the IBM Spectrum Control is installed.

Supported platforms

Any model supported by IBM Spectrum Control Manager.

Prerequisites

• BMC Discovery v12.0 and higher.
• A user account with REST API access and read only privileges.
• Port 9569 added to the list of HTTPS ports under “Administration → Discovery Configuration.

Procedure

Initial setup

1. Go to “Manage → Credentials”,
2. Add new credentials of type “IBM Spectrum Control REST API”
3. Provide the user account with read only privileges
4. Add port 9569 
5. Click Apply.

Test credentials

To prevent discovery issues due to invalid credentials, it is recommended to test your credentials before running a scan:

1. Go to “Manage → Credentials”
2. Click the "Action → Test" menu next to the credentials entry
3. In the Test URL field, type https://<IP> or <HOSTNAME>:<PORT>/srm/REST/api/v1/StorageSystems. Port is 9569 by default
4. Click Test. 

If your test is successful, scan the IP Address of the host on which the IBM Spectrum Control Software is running.
