Installing the IBM CIM Agent for DS Open API

After installing and configuring the IBM DS6000/DS8000 Storage Manager and ensuring it detects all DS6000/DS8000 storage systems, you should install the Common Information Model (CIM) Agent. The IBM CIM Agent can be installed on any server with network access to the IBM DS6000/DS8000 Storage Manager server.

Installing and configuring the IBM CIM Agent

The full package and installation instructions for the IBM CIM Agent for DS Open API are available on the IBM official site. When you have completed the IBM configuration steps, proceed with the following steps.

You will need to enter the protocols and ports on the WBEM Credentials page when adding a connection to an IBM DS Storage Manager wizard.
  2. Specify a user name and password
You will need to enter the user name and password on the WBEM Credentials page

  • Alternative IP — Leave blank.

Verifying the IBM CIM Agent

Verify the installation by running the dscimcli.bat lsdev command. This will list all the management servers that the CIM Agent is connected to. The command is run from the C:\Program Files\IBM\dsagent\bin directory and is used to list devices managed by the IBM DS CIM Agent. The output shows the following device information: type, IP address, and username:

C:\Program Files\IBM\dsagent\bin>dscimcli.bat lsdev
