Fujitsu ETERNUS DS Storage System
Fujitsu ETERNUS DX storage systems are discovered via the embedded ETERNUS DS SMI-S Agent installed and configured on the ETERNUS DX Disk Storage System controllers. As part of routine discovery, when the ETERNUS DS SMI-S Agent is encountered, an ETERNUS DS Storage Device instance is created. The ETERNUS DS SMI-S Agent is interrogated to discover any storage entities that it is managing. Once discovered, the storage entities are modeled in BMC Discovery.
Prerequisites
The SMI-S provider is integrated in the storage processor (RAID controller) of the ETERNUS DX60/DX80 system. This means that you do not have to install the SMI-S Provider separately.
- Credentials for the ETERNUS DX Controller on which the ETERNUS DX SMI-S Provider is running. The WBEM user is configured in the Eternus Web GUI as follow:
- Go to System - User Settings - Setup User Account.
- Click on Add to add a new User with the role ‘Software’.
These credentials should be entered as WBEM credentials for the storage system’s IP address.
- Network access on a WBEM port (5988 for http or 5989 for https) from the ADDM server to the ETERNUS DX Controller.
It is necessary to enable the SMI-S setting to use the SMI-S. To enable the SMI-S, run "set smi-s -function enable” via the ETERNUS CLI or set the SMI-S setting to "Enable" via the ETERNUS Web GUI as follow:
- Go to System - System Settings - Setup SMI-S Environment.
- Set SMI-S - SMI-S: Enable.
- Reboot the Eternux DX by selecting System - Utility - Shutdown/ Restart (for the controller firmware versions V10L2x and earlier).
