EMC PowerFlex Storage Systems

Dell EMC ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex storage systems are discovered using the Dell EMC ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex REST API. As part of routine discovery, when the ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex Gateway is encountered, a Dell EMC ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex Gateway software instance is created. The creation or confirmation of the Software Instance triggers the Dell EMC ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex Storage Systems pattern. The pattern continues the discovery of the storage entity using further REST API requests to discover the associated storage components. Once discovered, the storage entities are modeled in BMC Discovery.

Prerequisites

  • Requires BMC Discovery v12.0 and higher.
  • ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex user account with REST API Access.
  • SSH/Windows credentials to first discover the Host on which the ScaleIO/PowerFlex Gateway Software (PowerFlex version lower than 4.0) is running.

Note that a user account with the “Monitor” role is sufficient.

Procedure

  1. Create “Dell EMC ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex REST API” credentials in BMC Discovery by providing the ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex user account with REST API access. For Dell EMC Powerflex 4.0 or higher create “Dell EMC Powerflex REST API (version 4)”.
  2. Directly scan the IP Address of the Dell EMC ScaleIO/VxFlex/PowerFlex Gateway Host (version lower than 4). For PowerFlex (version 4 or higher) scan directly the PowerFlex Manager System.
