Network Device Information
A network device in BMC Discovery represents a Brocade SAN Switch discovered using the Brocade FOS REST API.
The table below lists the Network Device Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.
Name | The name of the device. |
Type | The type of device. |
Vendor | The device vendor. |
Model | The model name. |
Serial ID | The unique identification number of the device. |
DNS Domain | The Domain Name System (DNS) of the device. |
OS Class | The operating system class. |
OS Type | The operating system vendor. |
OS Vendor | The operating system vendor. |
Firmware Version | The firmware version of the storage device. |
IPv4 Addresses | List of IPv4 addresses used by the storage device. |
Fibre Channel Ports | Link to the fibre channel port(s) related to the device. |
Discovery Access | The discovery access history for the device. |
Fibre Channel (FC) Ports Information
To access the collected information for Fibre Channel Ports:
- From the Network Device page, locate the Fibre Channel Ports section.
- Click the link to display a list of FC Ports related to the network device, then click the port name you wish to access.
The table below lists the FC Ports Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.
Port Name | The name of the FC port. |
WWPN | The World Wide Port Name — Unique serial number of the FC port. |
Role | The role of the FC port. |
Type | The FC port type. |
State | The FC port state. |
Speed | The FC port speed (in Gbit/s). |
Network Device | Indicates the switch connected to the local Fibre Channel port. |
Connected Storage | Number of Storage Systems related to the FC port. This is also a link to the Storage Systems page. |
Edge Client | Indicates the World Wide Port Name (WWPN) of the end device connected to the local Fibre Channel port. |
Edge Device Ports (Edge Connectivity) Information
To access the collected information for Edge Device Ports, access the Fibre Channel Port page and click the Edge Device Port you wish to access.
The table below lists the Edge Device Ports Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.
Port Name | The name of the Edge Device port. | |
WWPN | The World Wide Port Name — Unique serial number of the Edge Device port. | |
Role | The role of the Edge Device port. | |
Type | The Edge Device port type. | |
State | The Edge Device port state. | |
Speed | The Edge Device port speed (in Gbit/s). | |
Supported Speeds | The maximum speed in Gbit/s supported by the front end FC port. | |
Storage Processor | The storage processor for this port. | |
Connected Storage | Number of Storage Systems related to the FC port. | |

IPv4 Address Information
This section provides information about the IPv4 addresses used by the storage system.
To access the collected information for the IPv4 addresses, click the IPv4 Address Link of the Network Device page.
The table below lists the IPv4 Address Information as discovered and displayed in the BMC Discovery console.
IP Address | The IP address of the storage system node. |
Type | The type of IP address. |
Netmask | Indicates which part of the IP address is reserved for the network and which part is available for host use. |
Network Device | The network device related to the IP address. This is also a link to the Network Device page. |
FQDNs | The fully qualified domain name related to the IP address. |
